Come Meet the Alpacas
National Alpaca Farm Day September 25 & 25, 2010
10:00 am until 4:00 pm.
Please join Ahh…Sweet Alpacas in celebration of National Alpaca Farm Day. We will once again be opening our ranch to the public, free of charge, and encouraging visitors to meet an alpaca up close. There will be demonstrations of history of the alpaca as well as spinners spinning the fiber into yarn at various times during the 2 days. You will see samples of products made from the fleece of the gentle creatures, and examine the raw fleece just as it comes off the animal. The alpaca is shorn once a year just as you would a sheep. The alpaca is not harmed, just like you getting a haircut. Several of our alpacas will be on halter and lead. Children will be able to walk an alpaca around the back yard, and yes we encourage you to bring your cameras. Your child will certainly want a picture taken with their favorite alpaca. Several of our ladies are due to deliver a cria (baby) right around Alpaca Farm Day. Hopefully they will cooperate, and there will be some new baby alpacas running around. You don’t need an appointment (for these two days) but if we know approximately how many visitors will be here at a given time, it will help us to schedule our presentations. Please contact us and let us know approximately what time and which day you would like to come meet these incredible animals. Ranch phone – 707-448-9157 or email at sweetalpacas@cs.com You can also go to NationalAlpacaFarmDays.com to find a farm or ranch close to you that is opening up their farm or ranch to the public for those two days. |
